BURST ANGEL: The Complete Collection stars a duo of bounty hunters named Jo and Meg, and their support crew, from the computer savvy Amy, to their manager/liason Sei, to their new cook, Tachibana Kyohei. The tale splits psyches, in a fashion, starting the story from the perspective of Kyohei, then on to Amy, ending through the naive eyes of Meg. While we're not immediately told the crew are bounty hunters, rather just a crew of hired guns, the point doesn't ever change. When things go wrong, the crew (which never has a team name, really, other than their association with the Bailan organization, which they are NOT members of). The girls go into battle with guns blazing, compromising computers systems, and taking out rolling mechas, by means of the always overmatched, but never outpilotted Django the cybot.

Jo, Meg, Sei and Amy work as a ruthless mercenary team, using colossal armored robots armed with twin pistols and a bevy of other dangerous armaments to bring the increasingly advanced syndicate to their filthy knees. In addition to piloting their own specialized mecha, the girls wear as little clothing as possible and tease the hell out of Kyohei and each other. There's comedy, action, a little romance and a whole lot of gunplay as the Angels tear up the crime-ridden streets of Tokyo. The show's thrills come threefold. Complicated relationship triangles spring up like wildfire, the girls deal with a complicated plot involving the syndicate that threatens the very of Tokyo life, and the four of them barely keep personal and public demons under control long enough to keep the team together.

BURST ANGEL: The Complete Collection looks very good on Blu-ray despite being an upconverted transfer.  So, far FUNimation Entertainment has shown us how anime that was not originally created for HD looks so beautiful and vibrant on Blu Ray and BURST ANGEL: The Complete Collection does not disappoint at all. One of the positives of the anime series is that for a TV series , there is high production value with the way the anime looks. From the many scenery that are painted gorgeously to the vibrant and colorful animation, I admit that I was impressed because due to the tight schedules of anime companies.  I was amazed by how much effort and detail the artists put on the actual series.  And also surprised to see how much fan service-driven the animation gets during the series midway.

The packing of BURST ANGEL: The Complete Collection states two audio options: Dolby Digital 5.1 in Japanese, or Dolby TrueHD 5.1 in an English dub. This is a misprint/error, as the show has Dolby TrueHD tracks across both languages. All three discs default to the English dub, with subtitles off, but swapping languages takes only a few seconds. It is a pain to remember to do it when changing discs, but that's not a big deal.

Extras include:

Disc One
Audio Commentaries on 3 episodes: The Brothers Die at Dawn, The Wounded Outlaw, and Uncharted Cyberspace.

Disc Two
Audio Commentaries on 2 episodes: Showdown in Osaka and Dueling Angels.

Disc Three
Audio Commentary on 1 episode: Angels, Explode!

Burst Angel- Infinity OVA (HD, 25 min)
This feature is like another episode in the show, that plays out somewhere in the teens, as characters haven't yet...ya know...Anyways, this episode has a strong sense of humor, but doesn't really tie any loose ends up or expand upon the story. It's also a bit racist, calling the only black character in the film a gorilla. Some fun action and neat spots, on what could be called one of the top 10 episodes of the show, even though it's not really an episode.
